One Social Media hack to see what the best Apps are currently or new ones that are up and coming before mainstream really pays attention to them is going to the App store and looking at the Top FREE apps list and going down the Top 100 apps by one on a daily/weekly basis. If you do it often enough you notice what’s popping and what’s falling or losing momentum.
As an example, Boomerang from Instagram was popping and now as of December 2016 it’s barely in the Top 100. This can give you massive insights on what consumers love, hate, or just not feeling any longer.
Another way to track apps is to use App Annie and see a more detailed approach to downloads of apps, revenue estimates, and market data vs. surface level lists.
In this same aspect and process you can track what the top VCs in the world like Sequoia Capital (early Facebook investor) and social media celebrities like Gary Vaynerchuk are investing iin via Crunchbase..
Want more… click this.. to see all the top investors and where they are investing their money.
Why is this so cool and valuable to track top Investors and their investments?
You can get insights on the next tech/app/social media and internet companies and where the money is actually flowing.
These are the best of the best of breed of investors and you can track where they are putting their money and you can find something that’s about to pop or hit mainstream before anyone else just like with checking the top apps and that philosophy.
This is how you can “Follow the Money” and SEE if they are putting their Money with their Mouths are.
We create, produce, and distribute premium content across the media landscape to build personal brands and businesses for emerging and established talent.
He also gives some examples of celebrity personalities, musicians, artists, athletes, CEOs, and visionaries..
This is a another parallel service that ties in to everything Gary Vaynerchuk does and is about. This coincides with launching VaynerMedia, VaynerSports, being an investor in Snapchat, his 60 minutes piece on influencer marketing and his end goal of making all of his assets and the VaynerMACHINE help him turn around a nostalgic brand one day into a Billion Dollar Sale..
He is going to take an old school brand that he can buy on the cheap and then run it through this VaynerMachine to flip it for billies and then buy the Jets.
Gary Vaynerchuk just announced his partnership with a sports agency to create VaynerSports to add his social media and digital agency zest to sports athletes career and future. Vayner Sports is going to be “the best provider of value to human beings”. Gary said this is a ten year play and will let the chips fall based on the market conditions when it comes to percentages agencies get coming down.
Watching Gary for so long this seems to also be another play towards his goal of buying the NY Jets and getting more entrenched in the sports industry. He took one step closer to that when he started the RSE fund with the owner of the Miami Dolphins Stephen Ross.
Although as Darren Rovell points out you can’t own a sports team when you own a sports agency and asked if that is why it’s a ten year play because that is the time Gary thinks he will buy the NY Jets. Gary said that isn’t the factor for his “ten year” play but was just using that to show again it’s a marathon for him and not a sprint in all of his businesses and life.
Some of the reason sports athletes will want to be repped by Vayner Sports Gary mentioned was; (examples)
Getting them more value and money on their exit from sports vs. when they were in sports
Helping them with getting better sponsored deals
Possible $15k keynotes
Helping launch a podcast and getting it sponsored
Getting them in social media investments like a snapchat or musical.ly
People knowing and following Gary Vaynerchuk’s success over the years in the wine and social media industry could possibly draw “aunts, dads, uncles” to say to their up and coming young athletes you need to go talk to Gary and VaynerSports and get repped by them.
Towards the end they mentioned Drew Rosenhaus is basically “buying contracts” in comparison.
We were going to embed the Facebook video of the announcement but for some reason it’s “broken or the video was removed”..
One thing I noticed is this episode caught FIRE!.. Comments went nuts and every time I would search “gary vaynerchuk” on YouTube it was showing up first page of YouTube for his name ever since the episode aired a month ago.
So I quickly sorted Gary’s channel by “most popular”.. (another way you can learn, just like looking at top free apps in the itunes app store to see Vine is dead and Snapchat is crushing..)
And low and behold in one month it has 65,168 views about to catch and beat his 1,4 year old keynotes at USC & Remax and on it’s way to be the #1 watched and most popular Ask Gary Vee episode passing #26 from a year ago (Am I an Entrepreneur or not) and the current #1 Ask Gary Vee Show thanks to Casey Neistat audience power #128…
So why is that? Here’s what I think…
It was the first episode where the guest and Gary Vaynerchuk didn’t agree pretty much throughout
Secretly, people agree with Seth Godin and already know “they are the product” on social media and sometimes are not really doing “work” with it or on it
Gary interrupted throughout which made it look like he was in an oh shit moment, <the dude I respect thinks my whole business (selling social media) is to sell against people’s attention of wasting time on it..> (Seth said he would walk out…)
People respect both Gary & Seth as they have proven results time and time again on executing things their own way
Seeing two people with different perspectives that both win in different ways is interesting
Bottom-line, at the end of the video if you really watch what happens is Gary actually agrees in a sense with Seth because he admits as he has time and time again, that he doesn’t read books, doesn’t consume on social media, doesn’t use it like the way Seth describes.
And to Seth’s point people that don’t are usually more successful making an impact in their own way on the world with their body of work and what they do by having a focus on that first.
Literally, the time Gary Vaynerchuk went on stage at SXSW 2016 (11:30 AZ time) we had a meeting with a client. However, the beauty of this digital world we don’t have to fly to Austin, TX and be at SXSW 2016 to actually see the vibe of Gary Vaynerchuk around this time and at the event.
What we can do is go to Twitter.com/search (es) for Gary Vaynerchuks talks, keynotes and digital bits and watch Periscopes or search YouTube to get his golden nuggets from the event to keep ahead of the trend in Social Media, Entrepreneurship and sales.
From what we can tell even leading up to the Gary Vaynerchuk speaking event at SXSW he has some new themes around business, hustle, and entrepreneurs he has been bringing to the forefront lately and he expressed some of these things again in some of the videos so check them out.
Snapchat is everywhere and is the new word for “selfie” <meaning can we take a snapchat..?> (similar to when people say “google” it..)
Figure out why you want to do what you think you want to do … first
How you make your money > how much money you make
You don’t have to make milli a year to win.. if you do what makes you happy you win

This one is good … Why ? Funny enough in the title there are two interesting elements that have extra meaning to me about “intent” and “trumps” that Gary really wasn’t meaning to touch on.
Gary’s point in this “intent” driven DailyVee is that if you start with your intention for doing something (being an entrepreneur, hiring people, creating a 500+ company, investing in companies, the way you make your money, ect..) and that intention is good then that’s all that matters.
In Gary’s case he points out his is playing a longgggg “everyone at his funeral, buy the NY jets” game… vs. everyone and their mother selling “life coaching”, internet get rich quick programs, millionaire mentor master minds for $997 in a douchey way..
Many of which have intent is to make as much money as possible and then when it burns in flames pivot to another get rich quick.
The one thing I think that relates to not just this but in social media and marketing in general that I have found is Google still rules when it comes to advertising and marketing online whether with SEO or PPC ads with Adwords it’s still brilliant and maintains Google’s #1 rank in the US because the intent of the searcher behind each keyword vs. Facebook dark posts or Social media ads that push their shit in a stream or “remarket” to a demo or a web visitor.
Another thing that hit me his the word “trumps” in this headline because last night in the GOP debate one of “Trumps” statements is that people are sick and tired of political hacks.
And this relates because people are sick of “social media” hacks and Gary trumps all of them with this dailyvee content and everything he puts out because he executes and shares value based on execution not some bullshit theory which many spit out that aren’t even entrepreneurs or still live at home with their parents.
At the end of Gary’s last Ask Gary Vee Show for 2015 Gary asks for a recap so here is ours.
As a viewer of every episode of the Ask Gary Vee Show since Gary is the ultimate growth/time hack to keeping people at the forefront of social media here are some of the key points we have seen this year.
People are curious and have a craving to learn and be motivated
Let us elaborate…
If you watch the Ask Gary Vee Show you can learn two things about DNA. First, Gary takes after his Dad on the work-front, Sasha and was built to work 6am-11pm or more vs. the “life balance” that many ask about. And from the looks of it from his empathy standpoint and love for people we can guess he gets that from his Mom.
Secondly, if you watched the shows this year there are a ton of questions around “work life” balance and when does Gary see his family. The DNA of most people are to clock out at 5pm not think about work or not go back to a side hustle when their significant others go to sleep.
Most questions about work life balance are positioned in the way that they don’t have time which Gary points out cutting other crap out like watching Netflix or other areas you can audit your time.
The show is perfectly timed with a world of DJ Khaled keys to success Snaps on Snapchat and Instagram’s trending and popular lambo, motivational quotes, and money related photos. Most people love to watch the hustle vs. hustle themselves. Or they like to watch the hustle to get motivated on their own hustle. Alot of the questions asked this year on the Ask Gary Vee Show center around business, life, or social media hustle.
It’s a reason why people like Grant Cardone, Tai Lopez, and Steve Mehr are growing, attention, sales and their audience. The internet gives 24×7 access to executors that make millions and share the way they executed their hustle.
Only one Gary Vaynerchuk
One of the reasons we follow Gary Vaynerchuk is he is at the forefront of social media with executing social media plans for the top brands in the US. And the reason it’s hard to follow anyone else in the social media industry is that most spout Gary’s info, others don’t execute shit, and the other “social media thought leaders” don’t get the attention in this social media space as much as Gary does.
We literally can follow Gary and be 100% ok and up to date with what we need to know in the social media space.
This year a lot of Gary’s answers about what social media platform to use or how to use it is based on the attention of the consumer. One easy hack is to LOOK around you at your friends, family and in the “top free apps” in the itunes store.
Facebook / Snapchat own mobile while Google still owns the intent of consumers even in the mobile space. Another part of this as we mentioned in the “only one Gary Vaynerchuk” is needed Gary gets attention from the social media space because he is out there keynoting, creating shows/content/books, and constantly in your social media face and space. He has also been right many times for example Facebook buying Instagram for 1 billion and becoming the go to app for 2015.
They don’t want to win
In the video below, Gary said about 30 minutes in that 99% percent of the people don’t really want to execute. Why, do we agree with Gary..?
Again, because if you recap the 2015 show we guarantee you will hear the same questions asked just in a slightly different way over and over and over. If Gary already answered or if people were really hungry why then are the same people asking questions still not executing on the answers?
Don’t believe us… Next time track a question back to user on Twitter and see if they are putting out amazing content, engaging on Twitter, testing Facebook dark posts..ect.. Not all most of the time the people are not taking advantage of this internet revolution and building something for themselves.
If you listen to the questions asked on the Ask Gary Vee Show some people already know the answer but they are curious what Gary thinks or how he would answer the question. Another part of their curiosity as we discovered is all the time and advice Gary Vaynerchuk gives helping his net worth.
People are always curious about people getting attention and are out their sharing advice and use money or their net worth as a measurement of credibility and if taking the advice is really worth it.
Have anything to add to this post, leave a comment or connect with us on Twitter @jobsinsosh. Also, you can preorder the Ask Gary Vee Book on Amazon here.
Here’s our take on the reason, and feel free to leave your reasons in the comments.
Gary Vaynerchuk’s DNA is to be out there, have a content team around him for his personal brand so they want to see the monetary value he gets from all of that
People want the raw facts and see if someone is “real” with so many business coaches, life coaches, social media gurus ect.. Many people score you by RESULTS.. and net worth is a reflection of results whether you like it or not
Gary Vaynerchuk’s net worth is looked up so much because people know he EXECUTES.. It’s actually the main reason people even pay attention and how he is the King of the social media game… You can literally only follow (no one else) everything Gary does in business and social media, grab what fits with your “self aware” personality and strengths, learn and earn.
UPDATE: Gary Vaynerchuk was asked on a recent Periscope (Jan 2016) about his net worth. He said he thinks those types of sites are funny because the land/building that him and his father own with Wine Library is worth 10 million alone. He then said VaynerMedia does about 100 million and could easily sell for somewhere around 300 million as well.
So adding that up conservatively Gary Vaynerchuk’s net worth over 100 million easily.
9:24 – What is the one question you have to ask in interviews?
Gary’s answer goes back to reverse engineering what the candidate really wants and to get them to fully trust and believe in him on a daily basis. He tries to get the job candidate to give him the truth and what their real motivations are. The other thing he does is completely try to feel who the candidates are and use his gut.
He asks about siblings as well just to understand dynamic but maybe because he loves his siblings so much and appreciates that relationship. So feeling and gut is what his job interview questions are really getting at.
Also, Gary answers the following questions in this episode and here are some of his recent mini motivational movie videos he has down recently including a Techweek talk.
2:34 – How can I become a really good listener? 4:08 – I love you man, and everything you do, but I also hate you because Im jelly of your success. How can I get past that? 7:50 – What lessons, if any, did you find from Mad Men? How is VaynerMedia differently run than Sterling Cooper? 9:24 – What is the one question you have to ask in interviews? 11:46 – How do you feel about Medium’s new logo? I loved their simplicity; this new logo ruined that for me. Thoughts?
